Flapper Lifestyle |
Flappers were known for being very reckless and initiating sexual relationships. They typically went to jazz clubs in their free time. There they would dance provocativelysdfdtt, smoked cigarettes, and drank alcohol openly. In addition they drove cars, participated in sports and dated freely. Before this time women usually wouldn't do any of these things. Since they went to the jazz clubs frequently the dances, such as the Charleston, the Shimmy, the Bunny Hug, and the Black Bottom formed. These dances were very popular throughout the jazz clubs. Petting parties also became very popular, especially at colleges. They used the term petting for making out in the 1920's. Also in college women were very busy with dating. They would have to set certain nights aside to not have a date and actually have time to study. Lots of the girls loved dating a guy with an automobile. Joy rides in their automobile became very popular, and unlike before they could have alone time. Whereas when they were at home there would always be a close watch on them by the family. During dates they would also use the automobile for heavy petting or even sex.
